Confirmation marks the point in the Christian journey at which you affirm for yourself the faith into which you have been baptized and your intention to live a life of committed discipleship. The Church also asks God to give you power through the Holy Spirit to enable you to live in the way of Jesus.
This will be a journey of faith for our youth; learning, understanding, exploring, believing, articulating, and living out Christian discipleship.
We have chosen to embark on a full semester-long course consisting of 10 weeks of Confirmation classes including a mini-retreat and culminating with a Confirmation & Baptism Sunday.
During the 10 weeks, youth will learn the core “orthodox” Christian doctrine, Creeds, and Sacraments. Youth will have opportunities to practice these in the congregation and assist the pastoral staff in leading worship. Youth will be taught primarily by Rev. Dan Haugh, with assistance from members of our church pastoral team and adult volunteers.
In additional, youth will explore and practice historic Christian "disciplines" or practices such as silence, giving, worship, Scripture reading, meditation, prayer, confession, and service.
Our Confirmation program will consist of 10 classes over four months and will be offered in the youth catacombs from 12h30 to 13h30 on Sundays: 13, 20 & 27 January; 3, 10, 17 & 24 February; 7, 14 & 21 April. The date for our Confirmation Sunday and Baptism is 19 May 2013.
