Dr. Stan Engebretson
Music Scholar in Residence
Dr. Engebretson comes to ACP from Washington D.C. area where he is Professor Emeritus as Director of Choral Studies at George Mason University and long-time Director of Music at the historic New York Avenue Presbyterian Church (aka “The Lincoln Church”). He has also served as artistic director of the National Philharmonic Chorale since 2005 (formerly the Masterworks Chorus and Orchestra since 1994.
The National Philharmonic was named for an award in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Access (DEIA) in 2023. Dr. Engebretson is a frequent guest conductor and clinician throughout the United States and abroad, most often in Germany, but also Switzerland, Italy, France, Russia, Lithuania, Cuba, Costa Rica, South Korea, and in Iceland where he was a Senior Specialist Scholar for the Fulbright Foundation.
