ACP This Week
Please view this video message from Pastor Paul telling us of this Sunday's sermon - Love the sinner; hate the sin. - the next in our Things the Bible Doesn't Say series. Scripture reading: John 8:1-11.

He also highlights tomorrow's An Evening with Kate Bowler: Thursday 13 June 20h. No signup or registration is necessary. Free and open to the public. Kate Bowler, PhD is a four-time New York Times bestselling author, award-winning podcast host, and an Associate Professor of American Religious History at Duke University. She studies the cultural stories we tell ourselves about success, suffering, and whether (or not) we're capable of change. After being unexpectedly diagnosed with Stage IV cancer at age 35, she penned the memoir, Everything Happens for a Reason (and Other Lies I've Loved) and No Cure For Being Human (and Other Truths I Need to Hear).

Also, note the Special Congregational Meeting: this Sunday, 16 June at 12h15 between the 11h and 14h services in the Theater. The Council of the American Church in Paris requests the presence of all voting members – and welcomes all congregants – to attend a special congregational meeting to call our new Associate Pastor of Congregational Ministries. This call comes at the unanimous recommendation of the associate pastor search committee, the executive committee, and the church council who have all met and interacted with the finalist. Please plan to attend, but if you cannot be present, make sure your vote counts by completing the electronic proxy at acparis.org/proxy. We kindly request that you submit your electronic proxy by this Saturday, 15 June in order to save time at the meeting.

Farewell party for Pastor Don and Tana: Sunday, 23 June 12h30. It will include a special time to share memories and well-wishes, and will last about an hour. Let's show our gratitude and appreciation for their dedication and service, and wish Don and Tana well as they embark on their next journey. We also encourage you to participate in a love offering for a special congregational gift. We look forward to celebrating this special occasion with you!

Bible Olympics!: Sundays 30 June and 7 July 12h30-16h. Afternoon program of games and activities for children ages 3-11. Register children here: acparis.org/bible-olympics by 23 June; we can’t guarantee your child a spot after that date. Many adult volunteers make the fun possible, sign up here: acparis.org/bible-olympics-volunteers to join the team!

And, as always, remember Olympics preparations are disrupting traffic -- for pedestrians, cyclists, motorists, and public transport users -- in ACP's neighborhood. Always check road and public transport websites before beginning your journey to ACP. As the games approach, motorized traffic will become increasingly difficult, so we encourage everyone to walk, bicycle, or use public transport to come to ACP.
This Evening (Wednesday)

Experiences of Existence philosophy class: Wednesdays (through 26 June) 19h30-21h in the 2nd Floor Library. This seminar will be led by Dr. John Izzi, professor emeritus of philosophy, Saint Michael's College. It views existence through various lenses: the Christian Mystical (Meister Eckhart), The Chinese Taoist (Lao Tzu and Chuang Tzu), the Indian Vedantic (Tagore); the Neoplatonic (Plotinus), and the New England Transcendentalist (Emerson). Reading and discussion material will be provided. Register at acparis.org/signups.
